I wanted to start this thread to get the conversation(s) going. 9.04 is just over a month away and I think Rochester and Syracuse seem to have enough activity to hold release parties. I wanted to open a thread to get people's ideas and suggestions about the upcoming parties.

Would you consider a more local get-together?
Thinking Utica-Herkimer area.

We would be happy to support a Utica-Herkimer launch party. Syracuse and Rochester are the only areas really meeting currently. The project slick666 and I have in mind is to have a joint Rochester - Syracuse launch party.

What kind of support would you want to hold on in the Utica area?

If there are other locations besides Rochester/Syracuse that are going to have an event I think it would be great to tie all of them together with webcams. This is the NY ubuntu Loco :)

Are there any other areas besides Rochester and Syracuse getting together?

Buffalo, Albany, Utica, NYC? Anyone planning something? We should link up. Please post it here.

Cprofitt, I know you've been busy but do you have any ideas at this point for the 9.04 release?

We got something going in Waterloo. The details are being worked out but how does that location work for everyone?

Ok looks like we have an event is on

Right now We're looking for April 25th, the first weekend after the scheduled release.

Here is the schedule
2-4 presentations and installs
4-6 party/social hour

We're looking for some demo system to demonstrate the new release:

Ubuntu System
Kubuntu System
Xubuntu System
Server (also to be a local repo)
a Laptop/netbook

This is just a start, we need to develop the details of the presentations and other details about the party. We're thinking about paying for the pizza and having people chip in.

Please post your thought, ideas, etc. This looks to be shaping into the best release party ever ;)

certificates, usb key chains, cd-r media, and the like that don't need
technical expertise would be best.

Looking for systems yall

I'm looking through my inventory and I don't really have anything that I can use to demonstrate the *buntus. I would also like some laptop/netbook. My macbook does ok but it's really my only machine and I can't really set it up for demo. We need some volunteers to bring there systems set up and willing to let others come in and use them.

Anyone have something they can bring?

I live in Albany, but I'm thinking of attending. (I've got family in Canandaigua, which isn't that far away.) I've got a System76 Pangolin Performance laptop that came with just Ubuntu on it.

Nice to meet you jazz - we would love to see you there. We can also assist with scheduling things in Albany in the future as well.

Thanks for the Offer Jazz I think it would be great to have a system sold with Ubuntu to show off. It looks like a really nice laptop so I'm not sure you would want other people to really touch it.

Would you also be willing to do some show and tell with the folks that walk in?
