I installed Ubuntu on a Dell Mini 12 using Wubi. All seems to be fine, except that I can't figure out how to log in.
When I restart the laptop, it gives me an option to choose windows XP or Ubuntu. Great! I choose Ubuntu and then watch the Ubuntu startup process, but it ends up presenting me with a black screen with some text instead of arriving at the Ubuntu GUI.
The prompt looks like this:
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$
...except the tilde is placed higher - hopefully you know what I mean. There's a linking cursor. What am I supposed to be doing now to log in?
