View Full Version : [gnome] Inconsistent window size in GNOME across different applications

I am using Ubuntu 8.04 with GNOME Desktop Manager.
I am not sure why some applications open in maximized form, some take only a portion of the screen, and still there are some that open but don't come to foreground.
For example when I fire Azureus using ALT+F2, it opens but doesn't show in foreground, instead it sits in the taskbar. On the other hand when I open xterm in a similar way, it opens in foreground with an arbitrary window size. And when I open Nautilus, it opens in maximized form in foreground. This is an inconsistent behavior and seems irritating. I want to know how can I set such settings. Is it on per application basis? Or can I apply the settings to all the applications?

Thanks

i have the same problem :( specially if i try to upload to photobucket using firefox - apparently it lists down all file types in the dropdown menu that goes on even up to the outside of my screen.
