Friends,

when doing an upgrade I now get this reply:

Error authenticating some packages

It was not possible to authenticate some packages.
This may be a transient network problem. You may want to try again later.
See below for a list of unauthenticated packages.

libamrnb3
libamrwb3
libavcodec-dev
libavcodec1d
libavformat-dev
libavformat1d
libavutil-dev
libavutil1d
libpostproc1d
libswscale1d
mencoder
mplayer
mplayer-doc

I think this is Not a transient network problem - because it happens everytime.

maybe the above 'items' are ...'wrong' for me?
I have Ubuntu 8.04

I attempt a partial upgrade - and i think that does happen ( uncertain )

note: I recently attempted to update my ffmpeg.
I used this very excellent how
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=786095
it worked! , ffmpeg works

I wonder if I have some remnents from a blown earlier attempt where i , may have , tried to use some libs that are for 8.10 ( opps )
i do not know -- i only offer that as background on "what has happened lately"

Thanks!

Can you post your /etc/apt/sources.list?

Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal

cat /etc/apt/sources.list

Friends,

when doing an upgrade I now get this reply:

Error authenticating some packages

...

libamrnb3
libamrwb3
libavcodec-dev
libavcodec1d
libavformat-dev
libavformat1d
libavutil-dev
libavutil1d
libpostproc1d
libswscale1d
mencoder
mplayer
mplayer-doc

These are all packages from the Medibuntu (http://medibuntu.org/) repository. Perhaps you need to add the medibuntu-keyring:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get update
More info: Medibuntu Community Ubuntu Documentation (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu)

well,
i think the
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get update

did it

i now update without any complaining...

theer was a moment when i asked to uninstall -- many things
I said yes -- i have seen no ill effects as yet
i suppose that is just the way that works????

I looked at the link for mediuntu
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu
http://www.medibuntu.org/index.php

from my point of view medibuntu is a good thing.
I see no downside at all ---- is there one?

I think I have a happy ending

Thanks! Thanks & thanks

( i wonder why / how i didn't get the 'key' initially. )

Hi!

What would I need to do to authenticate these then?

libicu36
linux-image-2.6.22-16-generic

I'm running 8.04, Kernel Linux 2.6.24-24-generic

Should I remove the "Gutsy" stuff from sources.list?:

jean@ubuntu-desktop:~$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list
