Hei everyone, yesterday i formatted my / partition because my system was highly unstable
i kept however my /home

now my issue is, ubuntu installer will not finish properly!
openSUSE and Fedora install no problem THO!

could this be down to some problem in my /home?

any idea how to fix this without formatting the home?
thanks!

To preserve your original /home; you have to install, go 'Manual' and use old partition. When you get to /home; pick it, but DO NO FORMAT IT

yeah thats what i did but installer couldnt finish
it says there is some display server problem (?)

then i formatted my home too, and same issue happened.

what i dont understand is why
1) i could previously install ubuntu
2) i can install debian/opensuse/fedora

We know /home has nothing to do with your problem then. Start with basics. Download a good iso, do md5sum, burn at 4x or less, do not use a CD-RW. Clen your drive before the nex installation.

Hy, I have a basic question.
I have a problem with my CD drive and would like to format disc and download new ubuntu. So I need to download it first and save it direct on my USB-stick (impossible on CD). So far, I could't find out how. Can anybody help?
Thanx!

Try Unetbootin if you have an OS in your system.
