Im an owner of an Amilo M7440 and my Ubuntu cannot use wireless. Trying to correct my Ubuntu 8.10 with a patch to fsam7440.c which has a bug.

su -c "install -d /lib/modules/2.6.27-7-generic/kernel/net/wireless/ && install -m 644 -c fsam7440.ko /lib/modules/2.6.27-7-generic/kernel/net/wireless/ && /sbin/depmod -a"Not sure about the details of what you are trying to do as I don't use wireless, but in ubuntu you can't use su -c, (that's for rpm distros like fedora, I think), we use sudo instead, with dpkg to install apps so that may be part of your problem, though a patch for a driver, which is what I think you are trying to add, may use something else entirely.
