I have Ubuntu installed on my computer. My problem is that when I tried to play music and movies, a prompt comes up saying that I need to install certain codecs. I am not connected to the internet in my room but really want to download the codecs on my parents computer and install them on mine. How can I do that.

A couple of method you can use to install packages without you ubuntu machine connected to the Internet is to either use "Generate Package Download Script (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Synaptic/PackageDownloadScript)" using synaptic. Or you can use Keryx (http://keryx.betaserver.org/).
