I know there was a bug report about this late last year when 8.10 was in beta.
8.10 keeps stopping during boot up unless I press any key and keep pressing it.
Isn't there a fix for this yet? I searched in here but couldn't find anything.

Apparently the fix is to add "acpi=noirq" to your /boot/grub/menu.lst (specify the kernel), which (apparently) works OK.
The bug is at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/272247

Or, if it is a HP or Compaq (made by HP) laptop, simply pressing the power key once gets it going without the need to continue to press a key. BTW, same issue on openSUSE 11.1; there, it hangs at detecting the touchpad (from the messages generated during boot).
