hi,
I am brand new to this and trying to install Ubuntu 10.8.
I am trying to install it from a dvd iso I burned. I checked the dvd and it came back that it was error free. when I do the normal install it stops with a brown screen and a cursor, the cursor will jump around verrrry slowly but nothing ever happens I gave it about 30 mins the dvd drive and hard drive are not running during this time. Than I tried to install with graphics safe mode and I brings me to a terminal(i think that is the right term)...

when I type ls it comes up with desktop in blue if that helps
