Never heard of it. It isn't listed at the Mozilla site, nor does a search of that site for "flock" return any results... Please provide a link. :)

Seems to be doing well for itself, though i have never used it. Probably install it later at some point. Link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flock_%28web_browser%29)

I downloaded it to see what the fuss is about. I'll give it a proper test run tomorrow, it seems to be modeled as a Student Browser, which is useful for me at the moment. It's a shame I deactivated my Facebook now :P.

Flock isn't (as far as I know) a Mozilla project. But it does use the Firefox code base.

I've been trying it with each new version since the very beginning. Their Linux support is more talk than anything. Version two and they still don't have a .deb. Their themes are Windows and Mac only. They have, like, 6 extensions on their add-on page.

Stick with Firefox or Opera.

I used it for a while on vista last year. Not that great imo. What is it like now?

It's not a Mozilla product, only based on FF code. I've tried it and it's pretty good if you're a social media junkie. It integrates your YT, Facebook, Flickr, Digg, etc. accounts so that you can do all your media stuff right on the browser. It's memory consumption is higher than FF but I think it's pretty good for all the features it has.

It does get better with each version, but there's just something about it I don't like. I think it's because it's a for-profit enterprise. I don't know.

Well I did download it. I just don't like it. I have seen very little to make me want to use it more than firefox.

Naive question, where does their income come from? I imagine mozilla get donations, but a closed source for-profit org?

It isn't listed at the Mozilla site

It is listed under 'Mozilla-Based Applications' http://www.mozilla.org/projects/mozilla-based.html

I am using Flock since last year. It is similar to Firefox in everything.

Features that present in flock are;

1. It notify you whenever you get any message or update from social websites like Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Flickr, Youtube.

Sidebar is dedicated for this purpose. It is called 'people sidebar'. There is another sidebar called 'RSS sidebar'. It gives RSS feed.

2. 'Media Bar' - Loads of photos from Flickr and other photo sharing websites and videos from Youtube will show as like 'stream' beneath the favorite bar of the broswer.

You dont need turn page by page to see 100s of photos. You can just see the stream of photos and click your interesting one.

3. Similarly you can save lot of your email accounts in the favorite bar. You will be notified whenever you get new email.

Except these other things are just like in Firefox. All firefox add-ons, extensions and themes work with Flock.

I am using Flock on Ubuntu, Mac OSX, XP and Vista.

See some photos in the attachment.

The website speaks for itself "powered by mozilla" not a mozilla product, was weird when i used it in version 1.

It's cool for what it is. But it's not my cup of tea. I only use facebook and that's good enough.

Theres a repo for it HERE (https://launchpad.net/~fta/+archive/ppa). Theres repos for it back to gutsy i think. Originaly linked to that from my blog ages ago. Found it useful and good fun. My partner swears by it, i like it but prefer simple little Midori. ^^

I've tried Flock a few times before, and honestly it feels too much like Firefox with extensions that you're forced to use. Now, if the rumors that they're planning on switching to Webkit are true than I may have to give it a second look.
