Hi everyone,

I often have to read articles in pdf format and would like to start reading some comics again. Has anyone had any good experiences any portable devices and pdfs? cbr/cbz?

I have a 5th generation ipod...would that work if I installed rockbox on it?

It's not a pression question.. so i decided not to really put it in the help section. I'm just more curious about peoples experiences with trying to do this and different devices.

I was looking at Kindle.. but that's still too expensive right now.

The only thing I know of to read cbr/cbz is Comix, but I'm not sure of anything for a portable device. I would imagine it would be easy, as cbr/cbz are just rar/zip archives.

This might work.. although according to cnet it doesn't sync w/ linux or mac machines. If I can get the virtual box usb thing working that shouldn't be a problem.

Hmmm...

Fine! I'll talk to my self then!

Hey shatered.. it'll be a fine day when we can read our articles on a portable device! Yes, that'll be a great day! We'll save some trees in the process too!

And when I figure out what works well.. i'll let you all know whether you like it or not. Hmmm.. it would be cool to have a student section for Ubuntu. Maybe that's what the education seciton is for? Nah....

The DS has a comic book reader, at least, called ComicBookDS (surprised?). But it requires you to convert all your comics to a special format. Fortunately, both the converter and the reader are available at the website (http://cbds.free.fr/)

A place called ClickWheel (http://www.clickwheel.net) both creates and repurposes comics for the iPod. ComicZeal (http://www.bitolithic.com/ComicZeal/comiczeal.htm) can read comics on the iPod Touch or iPhone.

You could always just run Linux (http://www.ipodlinux.org/) on your iPod, of course.
