I have a project which I'm starting and have spent a long time setting up with software, audio editors, drivers, network settings, and GRUB, and want to completely backup my HD onto a Master Reset Disc.

By Master Reset, I mean a disc which contains the whole OS, with all the drivers, programs, appearance settings, users, etc.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to boot from this disk and push enter, and watch it restore.

Any Ideas?

There are probably more elegant or simple solutions, but one that I know does work is using the P.I.N.G. (Partimage Is Not Ghost) product from windowsdream.com.

That's a front-end for Partimage that allows you to back off your entire Linux installation, and restore it fully intact. They provide instructions for creating a set of restore disks that will do what you want.

I've heard of an app. called Simple Linux Backup (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/simplelinuxbkup/simplelinuxbkup-0.3.3-i386.tar.gz?use_mirror=voxel). I guess it's a pretty good application.

I ended up using partimage and System Restore Disc.

Thanks.
