Did I break my computer or Updates?

Hi

I had to reinstall Intrepid a couple of days back after it seized up I think I might be the problem as I had been "experimenting " a little but it did also seem to coincide with an update session Its no problem this is a test machine but I've got about 260 updates pending and I do notice a few instances of people experiencing problem after update Has there a problem with a recent update and should I split the update up a bit?

Your problem could have been related to your experimenting. I would just do a clean install and install the updates and see if the problem reoccurs.

As you suggested it was indeed me that broke things I shall have to make a system recovery file:redface:

after updating Ubuntu 8.10 , I lost all sound. I followed the various HOW-TOs for pulseaudio but still no sound.
