I recently installed 8.10 on a (previously) XP Sony Vaio desktop, and everything went really smoothly. It was great, and we are running Ubuntu.

I have a Gateway W340UI notebook with Vista that will not do anything with the same Ubuntu install desk. I checked the disk for errors, none, and it installed on the Vaio. When I run the disk on the Gateway, I start getting random additional status bars that are partials and freeze. The main bar just keeps moving and never changes until I hard power off the computer. A few times it will make it through the status bar and then keep looking for something and not finding it (going through numbers and timing out, all the way up to 1300 or so). I have never made it to anything but the freezing initial status bar or a dos like screen that cycles through number ranges and says they are not found.

What should I do?

Thanks!

If this is live/desktop version then try the ALTERNATE (texted based) version instead.
