alright guys, so here's the deal.
i installed ubuntu intrepid, and enabled the computer, trash, network, and home icons through gconf-editor. for some reason, they didn't show up. i ignored it and continued to install and set up compiz fusion. so now compiz is set up, and i still don't have icons. i've unchecked and rechecked the boxes in gconf-editor, restarted X, and restarted my computer several times, but still no icons! any help?
i have all the latest updates.

Are there any items that do show up on your desktop? In gconf-editor, verify that in apps > nautilus > preferences 'show_desktop' is checked.
