I'd suggest starting here -> http://psychocats.net/ubuntu/security.

Rather doubt Norton will work.

Being on Linux is generally enough security in terms of viruses and malware. As for Identity theft, I'd say that the regular precautions apply.
- Make sure the site is secure
- Apply to only what you'll really use (this can cut down on how many times your name is out there on the internet)

And Don't Do Drugs. ;)

You can use a firewall. Clamav is the anti-virus app in synaptic.
Use both if you want to feel extra safe!.

I am going to close this thread now.

Since you are asking a very general and broad question, start with :

How to Secure Firefox - Ubuntu Forums (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=671604)

Ubuntu Security - Ubuntu Forums (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=510812)

and

[all variants] Introduction to AppArmor - Ubuntu Forums (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1008906)

There is a reason 2 of those 3 links are stickies at the top of these forums.

If you have a more specific or technical question, feel free to start a new thread.
