Hi all,

I try to get two screens working on one PC with a high resolution.

I want to use them as one big screen. The only problem is that the highest resolution I can choose is 800x600. When I choose a higher resolution I get the messages:

Monitor resolution settings has detected that the virtual resolution must be set in your configuration file in order to aplly your settings.

Would you like Screen Resolution to set the virtual resolution for you> (recommended)

When I anwser yes I get this messages:

You settings cannot be applied because the virtual resolutions in not big enough to contain your screens.

When I choose to mirror the screens I can choose for a resolution of 1280x1024 without any problem. But that is not what I want. I want to use the both screens as one bing screen.

I have tried to put the option virtual to the xorg.conf file, but that didn't work out.

I make use of Ubuntu 8.10 with gnome.

Hope somebody can help me with this.

Thanks.

Daniël

It still doesn't work. But I have become further with my search for a solution. See my new thread with the problem I'm facing at the moment:
