i tried boot from usb flash drive of ubuntu 8.10 using unetbootin. link

my problem is i need to save back changes to flash drive, because my friend has no internet, so he needs to use Ide's and players and other upgrades, is this possible?
please tell how to save back changes to flash drive and which guide to follow and install(coz lot of guides are there).
