View Full Version : [all variants] Referrals and Community

System76 could be getting a lot of help making sales from the community in two ways:

Expand is 76er program (https://system76.authsecure.com/article_info.php?articles_id=26) to individuals and anyone and not require an account! More materials, even if it's only advertising System76, should be posted on the wiki (http://knowledge76.com/index.php/76er_Program) for anyone to print out and distribute!
Create a referral program for some kind of bonus for those who help system76 make however much in sales. (5% of income from a refer-er goes back to them?)

Ubuntu pre-installed on machines is much more convenient for many people and is just as important (if not more) as pushing for conversions, but isn't recognized nearly as much. So, this benefits Ubuntu, System76, and the free software ecosystem as a whole.

Oh and look, they can pay for advertising by buying something for someone. http://www.payittome.com/

Oh and what a coincidence, somebody (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=30900111&op=1&o=all&view=all&subj=31350572863&aid=-1&oid=31350572863&id=1244041378) wants a System76 Laptop! (it's me). xP

What about offering t-shirts?

Why am i the only person who thinks this is a good idea? This point was actually raised by someone else here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6791949#post6791949

All of these ideas are already on management's radar -- along with numerous other ideas. It'll be interesting to see which ones they run with.
