And if only a Linux magazine would actually promote Open Standards and allow an Ogg Theora version to compliment the flash based player.. I might be able to watch it.

one of the commentors gave a link so you can download it and watch it on the player of your choice. http://www.linux-magazine.com/var/linux_magazin/storage/original/video/c169e02808190b9ed05e9f97b0c17490.flv

sudo apt-get install ffmpeg

Feel free to wget the flv and convert it to any format you like. Problem solved.

We shall try this again, slowly.

A) How does me transcoding their video file make them support Open Standards.
B) Transcoding degrades quality.

I can watch this, this sadly goes to show that the people really don't understand open standards, including the people who make their business writing about Linux who one might be apt to thinking were the amongst most likely to understand them.

Here is an example of how it should have been done.

Although i have no problem with proprietary software and use it if i think it will enhance my computing experience, I agree with your point.

Of all the places on the net where you would expect to see open standard flash, I should think a Linux magazine would be it. do think however that they may be trying to show that Linux can co-exist with proprietary offerings.

At the least, two links should have been on offer, so both camps could enjoy the interview....
