Need help installing

I'm running Ubuntu on an old machine and love it. When I try to install on my main machine (needs to be dual boot to run an XP cabinet design app) the partitioner wants to use the entire drive for Ubuntu - My guess is I need to partition manually - any suggestions would be appreciated

Use Partition Editor prior to installation and shrink XP. Then install, go Manual and choose your new partition. Better yet; use Gparted Live CD (works with unmounted drives/partitions).

Gparted won't let me resize - minsize 38xxxxxx maxsize 38xxxxxxx
