Installed Ubuntu 8.10 today on windows dual boot. When i was on the desktop, it asks for me to install a reccomended graphics card driver, which did, then restarted. when i restarted, Ubuntu was a bigger resolution than the 800x??? it was before graphics installed. But when i logged on, the monitors OSD says "Mode Not Supported" How can this be fixed?

Reboot and at the GRUB menu, pick recovery mode and use the xfix option to fix your X server. Once that's done, reboot and see if you can get back your desktop.

Ive now done that and it has uninstantiated my graphics card. What should I do/install now to get proper res without messing it up again?
