Hello,
i am trying to update feisty to gutsy via the 'automatic update' (star icon at the top of mydesktop).
However, whenever i run it i get an error 'Getting update prerequisites failed'..
i had a look at the var/log/dist-upgrade and i found htis

MarkUpgrade() called on a non-upgrable pkg: 'ubuntu-desktop'
ERROR:root:gor error from PostInstallScript ./apt-autoinst-fixup.py ([Errno 2] No such file or directory: './apt-autoinst-fixup.py')

could anyonehep me out pls?

thanks in advance and regards
marco

i ran 7.04 for almost 2 years
i got new video cards and decided to go up in distro as well
the repo's have been closed for 7.04ff

i found out if met it's end of life

you best bet would be to dload the iso for 8.04
i did that and got things working in less than a day
i did try 8.10 .. looks good .. there is some driver issues
so i installed 8.04

looks good so far

Hello,
thanks..
i have a few question though:

in my current version (7.04) i have installed Oracle 11 plus Svn.

If i upgrade, will it remove them? and what about all my files / programs i have written? do i have to back them up ? will 8.04 override also files in my home directory?

thanks and regards
mrco
