Hi guys,
I'm using Kubuntu 8.10 (KDE 4.2), nvidia driver 173.14.12 (recommended) for GeForce 5700VE. Compiz and emerald are activated.

My taskbar flickers like crazy when ooo writer 3.0. opened, and is quite often completely going A.W.O.L., leaving only some icons. The ooo window buttons also flickers if mouse hovers on it.

This flickering is annoying as it distracts you from working.
Please advice and thanks,
T

Sorry, don't mean to hijack, but I have the same trouble with ooo writer 2.1 in KDE 4 (using GeForce 6200 and nvidia driver)

Do you have trouble the system tray icons, because they seem to be linked with the flickering (at least in my case)?

Yes, but not as erratic as the taskbar. But still you'd still notice it blinks.
Do you also use the 4.2?

Installation of Nvidia 180.11 makes that "issue" go away.

I'm using KDE 4.1 to be exact. Could I install nvidia 180.11 for a GeForce 6200? I'm using 177.82 right now.

Yes, it's in the Intrepid repositories.

Many thanks for the responds.
I checked the 180.11 driver details (http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid-updates/nvidia-glx-180). There isn't mentioned about this driver supporting the fx 5700ve card. Is it then safe to install and use the driver?

warm regards,
