View Full Version : New Gedit Plugin: Multi-edit

February 27th, 2009, 05:46 PM
Hi, I posted this already in another forum, but noticed this is probably a better place for it.

I've just released the 1.0 of a new plugin for gedit called Multi-edit. It allows you to have multiple text cursors so that you can simultaneously edit multiple parts of a document as you type. Kind of like an advanced column edit, and similar to what's available in e-texteditor and TextMate.

More details found at: http://jon-walsh.com/journal/multi-edit/

Hope you like it :D

No worries,

For those that prefer a visual description, there's now a quick demo vid (http://media.jon-walsh.com/content/journal/pages/multi-edit/demo.ogv) that shows some of the more advanced features.

Also: A small number of people noted that they couldn't open the config window. This has now been fixed in 1.0.2 (http://jon-walsh.com/journal/multi-edit/) (At least I hope it has. If someone who had this problem could confirm it's been fixed, I'd appreciate it :))

Release 1.1 is now available :D

It is important you update

There's a redraw bug in 1.0.x that causes a delay when working with large files. But there's also a few other cool changes detailed here (http://jon-walsh.com/journal/2009/03/multi-edit-1-1/).

The links you posted are served with 200 OK, but with a completely empty response body. Same with the demo video.

Edit: So is the entire domain "jon-walsh.com". I'd suggest contacting your host.

Good things (http://codetree.com.au/projects/imitation/) come to those who wait :)

PS: I'm surprised I'm still getting updates for this thread after almost 2.5 years!
