A couple of years ago I built a serial IR receiver and it worked just fine on one of my computers. Even got the Wiimote to work.

Anyways I have been using my pangolin on my TV via HDMI, and I want to use LIRC again, but this time via USB (no serial port)

Anyone done this and know of a good howto?

What about a known compatible usb dongle?

Just wondering, it'd be nice to have while using boxee

This might help...

As for an actual device... I don't know. I've heard somebody say they had some success with the Echostar 5.3 IR 148784.

Not sure if that suits your purposes though.

Oh nice LIRC is in the repositories, that's new...well last time I did this was 2006.

My remote from my TV will/should work. It's on the supported list.

Thanks,

If anyone is interested I found a site where they offer a USB IR Dongle and support for it.

They also offer the driver in .deb format
