Project Looking Glass (https://lg3d.dev.java.net/lg3d-getting-started.html) is a 3D desktop environment, unlike anything KWin, Mac OS X, Aero, or Compiz Fusion has ever produced.

What do you think of it, based on what you know about it?

That's too bad, it looked like a really good desktop environment. I guess I should have figured that out from the fact that their debs were built on Dapper Drake...

i pretty much despise anything that isn't trying to be a virtual file card.

It's been dead for a while now and I don't even know if it's still in the Ubuntu repos (was in Hardy I believe back when I used Ubuntu). They made a Slax based liveCD which is fun to play with every now and then but it was really one of those ideas that looked better on paper.
