I sure hope so! I just erased my computer and am about to put Arch on it :D
Can I still install Deb files?

No, Arch uses pacman as it's package manager

No, debs are for debian.

meaning one will either need source code, or .pkg.tar.gz which are Arch native packages.

Actually, yes. There is a program called deb2targz which may assist you, but chances are very, very good that there is a much better, easier and simpler way to install whatever you need in Arch- either via pacman, ABS or AUR.

Because there's no other os talk anymore.


But yeah, don't bother with .debs. If it's not in the repos, just grab a PKGBUILD from the AUR, or try making one yourself. There's a guide in the wiki I believe.

Because everyone from Other OS Talk moved to the cafe, and they were already being assimilated.

I don't think I need to explain to the OP that because why pacman is incapable of installing deb packages.

Does rpmextract do a similar thing for .rpm packages?
