I am going to upgrade the harddisk in my laptop and would like to set up a dual boot WinXP/Kubuntu. Any recommendation to the partitioning and installation? Here is what I have in mind so far:

I will make an image of the harddisk I have now (100GB). I will then put that image on the new harddisk (320GB).

The new disk will then get two new partitions (all three will be primary partitions). So it will look like this:

1. Windows XP - 40GB
2. Kubuntu - 40GB
3. Data - the rest of the disk

When the partitions have been set up, I will copy the "My Documents" folder over to the Data partition.

Do you think 40 GB is enough for each of the OS'es? Or is it too much? All programs will also be on those partitions, but no data.

Will Kubuntu install without any problems in this scenario?

My laptop is a Dell XPS M1210, 2GHz Core2Duo with 2GB RAM and nVidia GeForce Go 7400 - 256MB.
