i don't think the OP expressed anything other than his own personal frustrations. what got bad about the thread was all the "sorry your mao suit doesn't fit" responses. i used to hate the "goodby, linux" threads, but i think i dislike fanboyism even more. while i might be uneasy with your mark shuttleworth's infomercial-like interviews, i do believe he earnestly wants to bridge the gap between linux users and users of other OS's. that requires understanding frustrations more than anything else. appealing to the fanboys is like throwing a piece of rotten fish to a seal: they're gonna eat it, no matter what. if you want microsoft users to eat rotten fish, you're going to have to cover up the smell a little better. (that analogy didn't go as well as i'd hoped, but you get what i mean, yes?)
