Colored pixel garbage

Hi there,

I'm trying to install 8.04 LTS on my new laptop (Toshiba tecra m10) and am getting colored pixel garbage. I've tried the suggestion of playing with the boot parameters (i.e. fb=false video=vga16:off), but to no avail. Could someone point me in the right direction ?

I'm having similar problem. Toshiba Satellite U400, gdm breaks the screen resolution. Dunno what to do..
