Initial problem: Sound was playing through system speakers even with headphones plugged in.

Solution (I thought, from reading other posts): Update drivers by running alsa_setup.sh

New problems:
1) No sound at all
2) Various new errors:

- When I double-click volume button, I get "No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found."

- When I go to Prefs > Sound, none of the pull-down options produce any test sounds.

- When I try to play anything in Firefox, such as Pandora, the screen goes grey and I have to force quit.

So, am I up sh#t creek or what? Is there a way to go back to re-install the system defaults and start over?

Any help is appreciated.
