View Full Version : [ubuntu] kernel panic after install

Hi,

I installed ubuntu 8.10 on an old laptop, and when it rebooted I get:

kernel: panic - not syncing: VFS unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

:(

I've seen several other errors like this, and I know it might help to install an older kernel, but I don't know how to do it. BTW, I installed the same (but 64 bit ubuntu) on my desktop, and it works fine.

Any help appreciated. Thank you.
