I recently installed Conky using the guide here:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1010741

It's running fine, except for one problem: Occasionally when watching a video on VLC or browsing the web in Firefox, part of my window just disappears and shows me the desktop behind it. The part that disappears is exactly the same size and shape as the area normally occupied by Conky on my desktop. However this “hole” through my current window merely shows the desktop wallpaper, not Conky.

I have a feeling it may be a conflict between Compiz and Conky (even though I put in a script as suggested to delay Conky’s startup, so it wouldn’t get tampered with by Compiz).

I’d happily turn compiz off, but I need it on to run Avant-Window-Manager.
