new 8.10 upgrade killed sound in firefox

I just upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10. I don't know why but the upgrade seemed to screw up a lot of my settings. The only one I haven't been able to figure out thus far is the volume being gone from flash videos, i.e. youtube etc (in firefox). I've seen others with this problem and tried some recommendations but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

I have noticed that sometimes after an update the sound volume settings are changed. Do you still have no sound at all after setting all volume settings to maximum, or is the sound just weak? For me, the easy solution was to open Volume Control and reset the options.
