Can someone tell me how to replace Metacity with WindowMaker, as the Gnome window manager?

I have tried to remove Metacity in the System -> Preferences -> Sessions-> Sessions Options, the add wmaker to the startup programs and Session options, set to restart. When I log out and login, Metacity is back, and WindowMaker is in the sessions settings, but not used.

I don't know much about windowmaker, but isn't it a replacement for gnome rather than metacity ?

In which case, select it from the options menu at the login screen.

It can be used as a stand alone window manager, or, supposedly, as the window manager under Gnome.
