The printer used to work and still works in Windows XP.

I considered reinstalling Ubuntu from an earlier backup but then I would lose all my mozilla bookmarks.

I backed up my mozilla bookmarks once before and found the restore didn't work.

What course of action should I take?

Have you checked Linux Printing to see what they have to say. It would appear that it should work OK.

It is always advisable to check before any printer purchase as not all work perfectly in Linux. I have been caught that way myself.

Sorry - What I meant is that it used to work in Ubuntu. So there can't be a problem with that type of printer.

Hi,

I've got the same problem. My samsung ml-2010 doesn't work any more in ubuntu 8.10. It worked fine in earlier versions of ubuntu! from 7.04 i used this printer. After updating from 8.04 to 8.10 the printer stopped working.

It stops at the point it wants to start printing the first line, but then holds end the red error light begins to light up.

is it possible to use the old drivers for my printer? and how can i do this? or is there another solution?

thanks in advance

Okay, an easy solution is to install the drivers from the samsung website:

http://www.samsung.com/nl/support/download/supportDown.do?group=&type=printersmultifunctionals&subtype=monolaserprinters&model_nm=ML-1210&disp_nm=ML-1210&language=&cate_type=all&dType=D&mType=DR&vType=&prd_ia_cd=06010400&model_cd=&menu=download

i used: i386 Linux Driver (ver.1.1.7-27)

all seem to work fine now.
