View Full Version : [ubuntu] iPod 4G on Linux

I got a new iPod 4G and was trying to get it to run on Ubuntu, but with gtkpod, I could only go up to a 3G nano.
Is there a program out there that supports the new one, do I need plugins, or will I just have to use Windows?

Have you tried it on Rhythmbox? Make sure the ipod plugin is enabled in Edit->Plugins.

Rythymbox doesn't allow you to add songs to your ipod, and when I turned shuffle on in Rythymbox, it screwed up my thumbnails, so now the "Cover art" is usually either blank or a random frame from a video.
Basically, Rythymbox screwed up my ipod

ah, I see...I don't have an ipod so I don't know how well it works.

There seem to be a bunch of ipod-supporting programs in the repositories. Why don't you open Synaptic Package Manager through System->Administration and search for "ipod" by "Description and Name" and see what comes up. Just start trying the different software packages out there that purport to support ipods.
