Good Morning
I am new to Linux and loving it so far.
My first project is to make up a Mythbunutu system for the kids to store all thier movies and stuff on and to record the Free2Air shows on.
I have the system up and running nearly perfrect but for a couple of little items. The first being to mount a second 1TB hard drive to store all the movies onto.
I have install the 2nd hard drive and used GParted to format it to XFS as per the original format of Mythbuntu for storing the recorded shows.
I have read through thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1074885. This seems pretty easy for me to follow and get the 2nd hard drive to mount on each reboot.
My question relates to the various threads both on here and MythTV talking about the different type of mounting eg Logical Volume Mount LVM or, or, or. I am confused and would like some help/advice
My idea is to use the 1st hard drive (1TB) to record to and the edit out the ad's. Once I an happy I will then transfer the finsihed product to the 2nd hard drive. I will also store all my ripped movies on the 2nd hard drive.
So should I just mount up another hard drive as per http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1074885 or should I make it a LVM or, or, or what.
I was thinking of mounting as new hard drive and then I can use the LVM when I run out of space and just keep 'extending' this one harddrive as time goes on.
Last thing I am new to the command line and linux. I am just you average computer user so all these technical terms go over my head. Please keep the reply pretty basic or well explain.
