What can happen to a computer bit?

I have a class task, and I am required to find out what can happen to a bit.
You will examine six things that can happen to 1 bit: (Class Work )

· propagation
· attenuation
· reflection
· noise
· timing problem
· collisions

I have searched using various search engines, but I can not find anything that is relevant. I am not asking anyone to do my work, I am mearly asking for guidance on search engine keywords that might yield what I need to find out. (or if you're feeling generous, a link to an article ;) )

Presumably (judging my the key-words) this is talking about a bit in some form of communications mechanism (either a computer bus, or maybe Ethernet/wifi etc).

Maybe including some key communications words (for instance Ethernet) might help then.

They have sometimes been known to star in major motion pictures (as a sideline to earn extra cache on the side, don't 'cha know...)
