my notebook has hsf connexant modem and i have installed the alsa and modem driver from linuxant.But the modem is still not found in lspci.also nw the audio is also distorted. help........

Is it a WinModem? That might be the problem.

Ugh... I have a dell with that modem. In my case (last time I messed with it), Dell provided to correct driver and the modem worked... BUT (you KNOW there had to be a "but") it would kill the sound. Since I really don't need the modem, I just removed the modem driver.
If you have a DELL computer, you can get the driver for hardy (8.04 LTS) here: http://linux.dell.com/files/ubuntu/hardy/modem-drivers/hsf/

i ,ve acer travelmate.and i think it is a winmodem.any way to get the modem working?
