I've recently dusted off (literally) an old ubuntu box which was running Feisty.
Since that time, the CD drive broke so I'm wondering the best way of updating. In the past I have managed to update my systems just by switching the sources.list to the new version and using update-manager/dist-upgrade. i.e. I think the machine was originally running hardy.
I don't believe the BIOS supports net-booting, so the only way to get a newer install media would be to purchase a USB stick and try booting of that for a clean install.
So my question is would it be safe to just replace
feisty --> jaunty in sources.list
and cross my fingers? :)
