Does anyone know of linux compatible workout software? Kipina is not really worth it. I did some googling and didn't really find anything. I'm assuming that there are probably some apps written in java that won't be platform dependant, or at least I hope there is.

I work out pretty actively and would like a nice piece of software to help me track my progress. I had my Palm based one but want to migrate the info onto my desktop as my palm died recently.

What software do you have for your Palm?

As for my Palm, I was using PTW Mobile Edition until the Palm died an ugly death underneath a weight plate. Ouch. I went back to the site to see about getting another copy for my new Palm. When I was looking, I noticed they had a Linux version. To quote my friend from Boston: Shweeeet. Though they did change their name to OpenFitness. My only grip is they still can't sink the desktop edition with the mobile edition. Of course, that is why I relied on the mobile edition instead of the desktop.

I downloaded the Linux version but as yet have to got it running. I'm new on Linux and haven't quite learned all the basics yet. http://www.workoutware.com/ is where it can be found. It is a java program like Moneydance so it should run on Linux pretty easily. Now if I can only figur out how to get it to install....

There is also this thread, but it's locked due to age. Seems to have had recent activity to me though...

I'm a programmer and have been considering writing my own fitness logger for recording times, distances and scores when I go running.

I guess I could release this to the public and add other forms of exercise in there.

i've been searching a good workout software, can't finda anything usable yet. Kipina is kinda basic, i'm lookking for software u can input data like heart rate max/min working zones, or even interact with heart rate monitors like Polar.

The only one i've managed to work is sportstracker cause it's java, hope it helps.

You can get openfitness here:
http://www.workoutware.com/

" Instructions: After you download the file, make it executable (chmod +x openfitness_unix_2_0_0.sh) and then run it."

To install it in your home directory, try something like this:
Right click browser, save as (ends up on Desktop)
$ cd
$ mkdir ww
$ cd ww
$ mv ~/Desktop/openfitness[tab] .
$ chmod +x open[tab]
$ ./open[tab]

and see what happens.
