For some reason, when ever I attempt to adjust the volume from the exterior controls (volume controls on the front of the laptop), it either makes the volume 100%, or 0%... and it doesn't stop!!! The volume thing keeps popping up, saying that I've either turned it all the way down, or all the way up! So, then I mute it. I press the mute button, and what do you know? I can't type, or open any new menus!! The only way to solve this is to hit ctrl+alt+delete, and log off. But if it's muted when I log in, I have to do the whole thing again!

I'm running the latest version of Ubuntu on my HP Pavilion zv6000 notebook PC. Please help!

If you need my computer's specs, just ask.

I have the same laptop and the same exact problem. The sound works fine unless I hit the external controls, then it is wacked until a restart. Keep me posted if you get anywhere with this and I'll do the same for you.

I have used ubuntu on this laptop for every release since Dapper and the sound controls worked fine until Intrepid. Wonder want will happen with jaunty.
