Drivers problem

Hi,

I am using a lenovo y500 laptop and i have installed Ubuntu inside windows.
Everything is fine but whenever I play a video on vlc my system slows down.

Is this a driver problem?

Yesterday I upgraded my Ubuntu from hardy-heron to intrepid.

If I have to install the drivers please tell me the command to install them.
