View Full Version : [gnome] Use something else than .svg?

GNOME uses .svg for nearly every icon above 32px AFAIK.

So, I was wondering if it was possible to use .png, .ico or maybe even .icns instead, since there's a serious lack of .svg icons if it's not packaged for linux. There's plenty of .png icons, however...

I encountered the same problem as well..
I was trying to install SmartSVN, while trying to manually add SmartSVN to the Applications list, I found that PNG icons were not supported! :(

are you talking about icon sets ?

Is so then yes. I replaced the folder.svg with a custom png file and it worked fine. Of course witih pngs if the image is too small and gets stretched too much then it loses quality.
