Trying to get my ibm thinkpad 240x up and running on xubuntu, but keep hitting snags. Grub was giving me an Error 15, so I tried to boot from the Grub prompt. Here's what I got:

.
.
BIOS EDD facility v0.16 2004-Jun-25, 0 devices found
EDD information not available
input: AT...
VFS: Cannot open rootdevice "sda5" or unknown-block(0,0)
Please append correct "root=" boot option (thought I did that); here are available partitions: <nothing appears>
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

I have the same problem and same text as you. I wish I had an answer for you but I have been searching the forms and had a teckie look at the problem and he was stumpted (he is MS certified tech so he knows almost nothing about Linux)

I'll keep looking and let you know what I find......
