8.10 Install complete, blank screen on 1st boot-up

Help! Finally got through the installation, but when my IBM240x laptop with 192MB RAM and 12GB HD (& no cdrom) boots up, it blanks out. I see the Xubuntu logo perfectly with the progress bar. When progess gets to 100%, screen flashes a couple times with yellow vertical lines running through the Xubuntu logo. Then it just goes blank and hangs. Thought I was there.

you have problem with videocard, you need to google about installing Ubuntu/Xubuntu to such laptops - http://linuxlaptops.org or other succes stories. Also check Ubuntu compatibility with your laptop - somewhere in Ubuntu wiki.
