Hi everyone,

So I have a dell xps m140 that has volume buttons..

Everytime I press volume up or down now I get this really ugly piexelated volume icon. It's located in usr/share/icons/gnome/24x24/status

I searched the web and the forum and can't seem to find out how to change the volume icon. Any idea?

I'm using ubuntu 8.1.. and no matter what theme I choose it stays the same.

it's titled audio.volume-high.png audio.volume-medium.png etc..

I think it is your icon theme problem. you can change another icon set from (system>preferences>appearance) select them tab. then customizes and select another icon them. If you have backup icon theme just drag and drop in appearance> theme tab.
you can download icon theme or GTK theme(MAC, VISTA) from this site

www.gnome-look.org

Only the human theme does not use that icon... I tried dragging and dropping an icon theme but it keeps saying incompatible. which themes are compatible with an ubuntu os (straight out of the box)?

I also installed the gtk theme software

oh and thanks for the help!

In the icons option there are blue folders (crystal something), is there anyway I can pick them and keep my current volume icon? or at least change the volume icon for that icon theme?
