I installed open office 3.01 from the open office-ubuntu repository (http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-To-Install-OpenOffice-org-3-0-in-Ubuntu-8-10-96449.shtml). It all seemed to go OK but my old open office start up icons in applications are gone and I can't find the program in etc. How do I get new icons for it into applications?

Thanks

Make sure you have the "openoffice.org-debian-menus" package and the appropriate desktop integration package for your DE.?

When I look in the package manager I don't see anything like a menu (100's of files but nothing like a menu) and how would I know it's for 3 and not 2.4?

To add office to applications-
right click on applications, go to edit menu, go down to office, than click add. For the command use some thing like this this-
/opt/openoffice.org3/program/soffice

This may be correct path, but I'm not positive of the correct path for 3, as I currently have 2.4 installed
